D-DAY 75 - BBC Breakfast Live from Southwick House - Hampshire Cameraman

Updated: Mar 24, 2020

Today I was privileged to film the weather bulletins for BBC Breakfast with Weather legend Carol Kirkwood.

What made the day even more special was that it was filmed in the key logistical map room for the final planning of D-Day, Southwick House in Hampshire, and we were there 75 years to the day that the decision was made to call off D-Day due to bad weather.

Carol and I were like children in a sweet shop, both being passionate about WW2.

We recorded two hits every hour from 6am till 8:45 and these also included guest interviews.

After the lives we then recorded a pre record and some cutaways for the BBC News Channel which also made it on to the 1 o'Clock BBC Lunchtime News.

You can see a selection of the live broadcasts below.

A great day was had by all. If you're looking for a Hampshire Camera Operator to film or live stream your event please do give me a call.
